2 Factor Authentication for Peppered Dashboard login

2 Factor Authentication (sometimes referred to as 2FA) is a more secure way to log in and requires two steps instead of one.

Peppered uses this method of logging in to protect your website Data.

When you use a private computer you can mark the box "Next time skip this step" and you can easily log in like you always did. When you are using a company's or public computer you can choose to use the email verification or an authenticator app. We will explain both below.

Logging in for the very first time

Step 1: Enter your Username and Password

Step 2: Enter the security code. This code will be send to your e-mail which is connected to your Dashboard account.

You will receive the notification "This code has been sent to your e-mail address".

Check your email and find the code:

Enter in the code you have received.

If you are working on a private computer, which only you can access, you can check the box "Next time, skip this step on this device".
You will be able to log in.

Now you are logged in.

What if I have no email address in my Dashboard account?

If your Dashboard account does not have your email address configured, you can not log in. In that case you should ask your Dashboard Administrator to add your email address to your account. You can find out who your Dashboard administrator is at the bottom of the login screen:

Login with an Authenticator app

After you have logged in at least once via the method above, you can also choose to receive your security code for Step 2 in an Authenticator app for next time. This is very convenient if you do not have access to your work email on the device you are using.

Setting up a Authenticator App

Step 1: After you logged into the Dashboard, go to your Account page by clicking on your name in the top right of the Dashboard:

You need an Authenticator app, which you can download for any device. The three most used ones are linked to on the page:

Step 2: Download one of the Apps. In the example below the Microsoft Authenticator app is used, but all three will work.

Step 3: Once the App has downloaded, open it. The App will ask you to add a new account for your Dashboard login.

Step 4: After adding a new account, the App will ask you to scan a QR code to connect the Authenticator app to your Peppered Dashboard login. Scan the code you see on your Dashboard account page (see example above).

After you have scanned the QR code, your Authenticator app is all set up. It will generate a security code you can use next time you log into the Dashboard.

Take note! Make sure to select "Authenticator app" in Step 2 when you log in to the Peppered Dashboard next time, and fill in the code from your App. This code will be valid for one time only, each time you try to log in. You will need to open the Authenticator app and obtain a new code each time you log in
